Have you recently uprooted yourself, your family, career, your life?
Does this sound familiar?
- I am here, I am excited, I am scared!
- I left my family, community, friends, career…am I crazy?
- I don’t speak the language…or understand the culture.
- Life as an expat is really exciting, and…life as an expat can be really lonely.
Wow, did I really sign up for this?
Yes, you did. At least on some level. And now that you are here, let’s make the best of it, together!
My name is Rylla Resler and I am an Expat who moved to Switzerland with my husband and two children just over 6 years ago. It was not easy. I know from personal experience how important it is to have help and support with this process, to share your experiences, and to know you are not alone. Expat Experience is all about sharing your stories and learning from each other, with each other.
Classes run regularly in Basel
You are facing a whole set of new experiences, a range of ups and downs, amazing chances to learn, incredible frustrations, and so much more. Exciting times, trying times, full of opportunities to learn more about yourself and those around you now that you are in a new environment.
If you feel lost and unsure, good. You have taken a leap into a wild new world and there is so much adventure and learning out there for you. Just know you are not alone. Come and meet others who share in your experience and come away enriched by the shared experience.
“I came for one time and stayed…it was great and I am grateful: as I already wrote to you, it was an “experience” for me. To speak about my expat-experience and to listen to others helped me to realize what it means to be an expat and why I felt so bad, and how to feel good (very!).
I liked your enthusiasm, your professionalism and the “giving way” you did this class. Thank you so much.”
Isabelle Valibus, Paris, France
President Professionals Women’s Group – Basel
“It has been a great experience. I have learned how to see things from a different perspective. Also I learned that there are many possibilities and new opportunities for me. …thanks so much for your help.”
Carmen Clemente, Madrid, Spain
“I have come away with tools to help ME find ways to survive not only on a practical level but also on an emotional level. I come away from the class each week feeling very inspired, uplifted and motivated to PUT MYSELF OUT THERE.”
Tricia O’Rourke, Sydney, Australia
Even if you haven’t moved yet, your Expat Experience has begun. Make it the best possible. I look forward to connecting with you.
