About Rylla Resler

Hello. I am Rylla and I moved to Switzerland with my husband and two children in the fall of 2008. What a ride, what a process!  I know from personal experience how important it is to have help and support on this journey, to share your experiences, and to know you are not alone. I started The Expat Experience to help expats make of the most of their lives as soon as possible, in other words, NOW!

I guess I have been an expat from way back. My father worked for the U.S. Embassy and the Voice of America when I was growing up, and I moved to Paraguay when I was one. At age four it was back to the U.S.A. where I was raised. By then the wanderlust was in my blood, and I think I already saw myself as a citizen of the world.

When I was 3 years old, I wanted to be an ambassador.

After getting a business degree from Tulane University, I worked in the corporate world for a while. Next came another opportunity to move abroad, and back to South America I went, this time with my husband.

Fast forward many years and here I am in Basel, an expat again. I am now also a certified relationship coach, having trained with the Kathy Dawson Institute for Relationship Coaching. All this and my own expat experiences led me to creating The Expat Experience workshops. As a veteran of many moves, I know how it feels to be an outsider, to learn to recreate yourself, to adapt, again and again. While there are many social organizations that offer a chance to meet expats, I saw the need to go deeper, to provide a place for expats to talk, share their experiences and learn the skills needed to adapt quickly. And thus was born The Expat Experience Workshop.

My goal is to gather those going through similar experiences together to share and learn from each other. I am privileged to walk hand in hand with expats,  as coach, guide, and student all at the same time. I love what I do! I have finally become that ambassador, a representative of foreigners in Switzerland, an American, a citizen of the world.

Let’s make the most your life and mine as expats in a foreign land. Be comfortable with your new situation, your new home, yourself here, now.  Send me an email at rylla@theexpatexperience.com.  I look forward to hearing from you!
